Dear dauntless robin,

The Robin

I hear you well into the evening.
I hear you well before dawn.
And why of all the thrushes
Are your eggs the purest blue?
Each May/June I share your angst
As spotted fledglings bravely plunge
Into an unforgiving world.
Then, wistfully, I watch while
You fly flawlessly into tomorrow.

The photograph above has appeared in this blogspot on a previous occasion.   It is one of my favourites and seemed to fit the occasion.   Please comment if you wish.

I love that photo. There is a great deal of dignity in it despite the circumstances of his dress.
