Highest migration altitude on earth
Three Bar-headed Geese are seen (above) landing in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam, India.The geese will stay in the sanctuary until May, before they leave for Tibet, which means making the highest altitude migration on earth. The trans-Himalayan flight will see the Bar-headed Geese reach heights of more than 23,000 ft. (7,000 metres). Some observers claim to have seen Bar-heads flying above Mount Everest (29,029 ft. or 8,848 m.). Oxygen content of the air at 29,000 ft. is about 10%.
