 GREAT BITTERN
(Botaurus stellaris)

A Great Bittern is seen with an eel in its beak, on the River Teifi, Wales.   Eels are a large part of its diet as well as other fish.   Bitterns are very well camouflaged and can remain motionless for long periods of time, in large reed beds, while waiting for eels and fish to come close, to be pounced upon.
