My British Columbia friend and fellow birder, Dave Kemp, sent me these five photos of birds that he sighted on his first outing of the new year, on the coast of the lower B.C. mainland. Unusually cold and snowy weather has plagued the lower mainland for several days. Not only are British Columbians staggered by the climate change, but B.C. birds must be struggling also.
