The Eastern Meadowlark is one of the best-known birds of Canadian and American farmlands; its cheery song usually delivered from a conspicuous perch. In Canada, it breeds from southeastern Ontario to Quebec to Nova Scotia. It it found generally in open country, typically fields and meadows, pastures, marsh edges and prairies.
They are often polygamous with more than one female found nesting in the range of a single male.
The black V-shaped breast band on yellow underparts is characteristic.
