The Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) is particularly indigenous to my part of the world: south-central Canada and the northeastern United States. As seen in the photos herewith, its appearance, particularly the male (above and below), is unmistakable.
The female Red-breasted Grosbeak (above and below) is quite different in appearance to the male, but is nevertheless quite distinctive and easily distinguished, when spotted a few times. Both the male and female are heavy-billed.
This bird winters from Mexico to South America and occasionally in the south-west
United States.
