It wasn't until after I had taken these photos that I realized what a wonderful visual contrast there was between this special looking bird and the snow.

Even though there is still lots of snow and the temperature dips well below freezing , the sight of the first Varied Thrush in early March is a welcomed reminder that spring is on its way to the B.C.interior .
