-30-

In the newspaper world, where I spent almost my entire working life,  -30- is what a reporter types at the end of a story, to indicate to the editor, that the story is finished.   Although I wrote a story or two over a 40-year career in the newspaper publishing business, I was never a reporter.   But this newspaper story sign-off seems appropriate as I end my BarrytheBirder blogsite.   I'd been mulling this over for a while and today suddenly presented itself as the right time.   Rather abrupt, but right, I felt.   I have written 564 blogs over the past 2 1/2 years and have had just over 20,000 hits and 368 comments.   I enjoyed it immensely and will be very lucky to enjoy half as much, whatever I tackle next.   Best wishes, dear reader.

I've looked forward to your postings every morning and will miss your photos and your caring remarks on the countryside I grew up in. Thank you for sharing all of this. I wish you all the best as you move on.

Wonderful blog Barry. Sorry to see it go. I wonder what's next?

If Conan Doyle could bring back Sherlock Holmes after that tumble into the Reichenbach Falls - assuredly Barry the Birder can make a comeback - the photography is first class and the comments scholarly and yet widely entertaining. We hope he will reconsider.

Hi Barry,
You have made your mark, there's no doubt about it. At first I thought it was a joke, but that is the way it is. No new day was complete without a visit to your blog.Your audience in Africa will really miss you. Wishing you all the best.

!!!SHOCK!!!

A little birdie just told me this blog was coming to an end and I'd be remiss if I didn't mark the passing. I think I may have had a small hand in its birth, but I can honestly say, Barry, you've taken the ball and run further than I think anyone might've expected. These other comments - including those from some pretty far-flung places - show the influence your words and pictures have had, and they're clearly going to be missed.

Here's hoping there's something else on the horizon...
