My daughter Allison was walking on a nearby hiking trail in Aurora, Ontario, when she heard a 'hooting' sound overhead. She quickly whipped out her cell phone and recorded the sound. A quick check identified the hooting as that of a Great Horned Owl. No sooner had she made the identification than a second owl nearby staring hooting also. Allison did not see either bird high up in the surrounding pine trees, but was nevertheless amazed and excited! Allison is not a birder. But from this moment on, I think she may be hooked. Welcome to the world of birding babe.
