Wild Turkeys surviving the winter...

Photos by BarrytheBirder

'Meleagris gallopavo'
I photographed these Wild Turkeys on the Oak Ridges Moraine in King Township.  These birds are the largest gamebirds in North America.   They are a bit smaller and more slender than the domesticated variety.   Males have dark iridescent bodies, red wattles and bare-skinned heads that are blue and pink, plus spurred legs.

Please comment if you wish.
