In winter found in a wide variety of habitats, usually in flocks.   The Slate-colored Junco winters mostly in eastern North America.

This winter I've had about a dozen hanging out in the yard. Usually here in the BC interior they head south by November but for some unknown reason they decided to tough it out . Also I have one lone Song Sparrow who looks like he'll make it to see another spring. Despite 3ft. of snow in the yard I saw my 1st.Robin yesterday.
