Juncos are basically ground-feeders...

Despite what you see in the photos here, know that Dark-eyed Juncos are almost exclusively ground-feeders.  They hop around the base of feeders, trees and shrubs looking for seeds.   They number about 640 million around North America and are the 6th or 7th most common winter bird in Ontario.
