A pair of Mourning Doves has built a nest close beside the front door at Delmanor Retirement Residence on the west side of Yonge Street in south Aurora.   It provides an excellent look at the activity involved in raising a brood of young doves.

Zebra Finch

B.C. photographer Dave Kemp captured this Zebra Finch photo on Vancouver Island recently. Zebra Finches live in large flocks in its native habitat of the arid areas of Australia, Indonesia and East Timor.   This Zebra Finch photographed by Dave Kemp is most likely an escaped caged bird.   The Zebra finches are two species of the Estrildid Finch in the genus Taeniopygia.

Osprey on the Ravenshoe Sideroad...

The photo above was taken by me in the baseball park on the Ravenshoe Sideroad, south of Lake Simcoe.   It shows a mature Osprey bird in the centre and first-year birds on each side.   The Osprey have already returned to this location and there are usually excellent views of these grand birds to be seen at the ball diamonds and at other spots along the sideroad.
