Swainson's Hawks that haver spent the summer in Aurora, Ontario, several kilometers north of Toronto on Lake Ontario, have been heading south, although a few stragglers have remained into mid-October. The long migration south can take all of two months when they journey as far south as central Argentina (a distance of 9,000 kms.) Other South American wintering destinations include Uruguay, Paraguay and southern Brazil.
