Song Sparrow
Melospiza melodia
One of North America's most familiar and widespread songbirds, it has a distinctive habit of pumping its long, rounded tail in flight. It breeds from southern Alaska to western Newfoundland and south to the lower United States. It winters from southern Alaska throughout most of the U.S.A. and northern Mexico.
