The first male Dark-eyed Junco of the fall arrived in the backyard the day before Thanksgiving. This lovely little bird is one of a trio of small bird species that makes the passing of winter so enjoyable. Juncos, along with Chickadees and Goldfinches make the winter months much more bearable for many people. The Juncos do all their seed-eating on the ground.
