The photo above is a recent shot from the Holland Marsh, in northern King Township. It shows acre upon acre of carrots destined for markets all over Ontario and the U.S.A. It also shows, on the left hand side, a small patch of corn, which I think is destined for personal consumption by the marsh farmers who grow it. The small patchs might have a hundred or so plants and show up here and there on the edge of fields that hold hundreds or thousands of acres or carrots and onions and other marsh produce. Waste not, want not.
